Time-lapse footage has been released from the Mildenhall Hub development, highlighting the progress made since the ground-breaking back in March.

Bringing together a number of operational services all in one place, Mildenhall Hub, once complete, is set to be a national exemplar. Costing over £40m, it will include a new school, leisure facilities, a health centre, a library, the Job Centre, Citizens’ Advice Bureau, a children’s centre and will also house desk space for Suffolk Police, West Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council.

To showcase this progress, representatives of some of the project partners toured the site to view the progress made over the last few months, including the completion of the steel superstructures.

James Wilson, Director at R G Carter said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome key stakeholders to the site to see first-hand the progress being made to this state-of-the-art project. Work has been progressed well since the ground-breaking, with the steel frame complete and external works to the façade now underway.”

Cllr Joanna Rayner, West Suffolk Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Community Hubs, said: “This trailblazing project isn’t just about bringing a whole bunch of public services under one roof for the sake of it. It is about a new and better way of working that will benefit the customers – the people from Mildenhall and the surrounding villages that will be using each service. It is a culture change – it’s ambitious, innovative and exciting, and I am delighted to join other project partners to see the major progress that has been made.”

Installation of the upper floor has now been completed to three of the four zones allowing for works to progress on the ground floor slabs and roof.

The next phase of the project will see the buildings all being made watertight, with work continuing on the roofs, windows and external facades. Internal works will soon start, shaping these new facilities which will provide easier access and more modern facilities the local community.

Mildenhall Hub is due to begin a phased opening from late 2020.
