An update from our chief executive, Warren Smyth…
From next week we will be inviting Abbeycroft members in to a series of test events ahead of us more formally opening to the wider public.
This will ensure that by the 14th June, when all of our leisure facilities will be fully open, we will have given everything a good ’test drive’ and will be confident to welcome people to our amazing new facilities. If you are unable to take part in these test events, don’t worry, we will write to you again once bookings are open for the 14th.
We had originally hoped to start opening the leisure facilities from the 1st June to the general public but unfortunately this has not been possible because there has been a delay in final handover of the building and that has had on effect on our training and commissioning programme. Therefore we are having to limit our activity to test events only.
Further information to book on the test events will be available within the next 48 hours so please look at for further information.
On a personal note I am disappointed to have to announce this and I appreciate your frustration, particularly those customers who use the swimming pool, who have been without a facility for some time. I can only apologise for this situation and advise you that everybody involved in the project has worked as hard as possible to achieve the original opening dates.
In the meantime, The Gym Mildenhall and The Dome will continue to remain open and next week we will be writing to all Swim Academy members regarding restarting your membership in preparation for the opening of the pools on the 14th June, so please look out for this.
In addition, the Mildenhall Library will be opening at the Hub next Tuesday 1 June from 10am, so feel free to visit and if we don’t see you beforehand, we look forward to welcoming you to our bigger and better leisure facilities from 14 June.
