The RLSS Course Trainer will be Juliet Jones. If you have any questions regarding enrolment please contact the Organiser – Wes Purkiss on 01440 702 548. The number of places available is twelve and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. A timetable will be sent to you on receipt of your application form, you will be contacted by the organiser to arrange a swimming competency test, on satisfactory completion of the test the course fee is due and that secures your place.

This Course will aim to qualify the candidates to become Pool Lifeguards. The exam will be on the final day of the course. If any candidates are not ready for the examination after the finish of the Course due to their personal ability, the Course Tutor will give individual advice. If any candidate fails, they can apply for another exam at an extra cost of £30.00 (there has to be a minimum number of four candidates).

The RLSS set out the following requirements for Course members:

Candidates should be fit and healthy and aged 16 on the first day of the course. And Pass a competency test before the NPLQ course consisting of basic swimming techniques such as being able to swim 50m in one minute or under. Able to swim 100m on their front and back and be efficient in Breaststroke.  Be able to perform a Surface Dive to a depth of more than 1.8m and tread water for at least 30 seconds plus climb out unaided without the use of the steps.
