WHO WE ARE... The Sports Development Team manages an extensive programme of activities at the Leisure Centres, encouraging people to take an active interest in sport and a healthy lifestyle. This also helps us to identify and develop sporting talent within our region, be it for the annual Suffolk Youth Games or through courses designed to allow participants to try different sports. This allows people to try different sports to see if they have an aptitude for a specific discipline, or simply just to have fun!

We also run a variety of Outreach programmes that allow us to reach more than just the Leisure Centre users. By taking the activities out into the local communities, we aim to make sport more accessible to the people in the remote villages in our area. These have included schemes such as 'Turn Up & Play' and our brand new outreach project for 2007 'Whatever The Weather'. These schemes have proved to be very beneficial and popular in the past and we are confident that 'Whatever The Weather' will be just as popular as some of its predecessors. WHO WE WORK WITH... We currently work in partnerships with a wide range of bodies, such as Suffolk Sport, the Bury St.Edmunds School Sport Partnership, the South West Suffolk School Sport Partnership, Burysport.org, Sport4Suffolk magazine, St.Edmundsbury Borough Council, West Suffolk Swimming Club, Suffolk County Council, West Suffolk College, Culford School, various other Local Schools and Buffera Ltd, providing sporting facilities and coaching for our sporting stars of the future. |

|
Buffera Ltd are the main sponsor of Abbeycroft Leisure, suppliers of customized 'Buffs'. The Buff is a uniquely versatile garment, which can be worn as a scarf, headband, hat, facemask or wristband. They are designed to achieve a high level of comfort and protection from the elements, with fun in mind!
WHAT WE DO... We also run a wide selection of various courses and put on specific sporting events in order to give Sport in St.Edmundsbury as much support as possible. These include our Summer Swim Camp at Culford School, the Suffolk Youth Games, swimming lessons and courses, the annual Swimathon, the Tommy's Splashathon, Everyday Sport, Active Places and many more. We have also introduced some new events throughout 2007 including the Abbeycroft Leisure Sports Awards and our first ever Charity "Run for Fun". |
