Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre Chosen to Host Sport Relief Mile
Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre has been chosen to host this year’s Sport Relief Mile at its International-standard West Suffolk Athletics Arena.
The Sports Mile is held each year at locations across the UK and participants can choose to take part in a one, three or six mile sponsored run in aid of Sport Relief. There are also four start times to choose from: 10.30am, 12 noon, 1.30pm and 3pm.
Dave Haggart, from Comic Relief, said: “Comic Relief has chosen Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre to host the Sports Mile because of its excellent facilities and the experience and enthusiasm of the Sports Development Team at Abbeycroft Leisure.”
Michelle Curran, Sports Development Officer, said: “It is fantastic news that we have been chosen to host the Sport Relief Mile here in Bury St Edmunds. It gives us an amazing chance to show off our international-standard athletics arena which the Rwandan Olympic team will be using to train for London 2012 Olympics. Milers will be welcomed by our mascot Edmund the Dragon, who will also be attempting to do the Mile along with some of our staff.”
