West Suffolk Sport

The community sports network "West Suffolk Sport" keeping our community active was launched on Tuesday 29th July in Bury St Edmunds at Bury Town Football Club and Wednesday 30th July at the Haverhill Big Day Out.

It is an initiative that has brought together the key providers of sport and physical activity in the locality, partners include West Suffolk College, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, the Bury St Edmunds School Sport Partnership, the South West Suffolk School Sport Partnership, Abbeycroft Leisure, Haverhill Town Council and all the sports clubs in St Edmundsbury.

The aim of West Suffolk Sport is to get people more active, more often. It will deliver this by working in partnership with all organisations in sport and physical activity and provide coordinated delivery of initiatives to increase resident's involvement.

"I am delighted to be involved in a project backed by central Government and supported by local partners including St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Abbeycroft Leisure. Sport and physical activity has an important role in people's everyday life and West Suffolk Sport aims to increase its profile and engage more people in sport and active recreation"

Michael Rayner, chair of West Suffolk Sport

Meetings take place quarterly in either Haverhill or Bury St Edmunds and everyone is welcome to attend. Future dates will be distributed soon.
