Suffolk Youth Games

Established in 2000, the Suffolk Youth Games is an annual sporting competition between the seven Districts of Suffolk in a range of sports. This year will be the final games in Suffolk and is kindly being supported by Abbeycroft Leisure and being held on Sunday 12th July.
The Games is part of the Sport England Active Sports programme being delivered by Suffolk Sport and is the largest multi-sport festival for young people in the county involving over 1000 young people. Medals are awarded to teams finishing first, second and third in each competition and the district with the greatest number of points accumulated across all sports are awarded the title of 'Suffolk Champions'.
The Fair Play Award is presented annually to the district that receives the highest number of 'Fair Play' nominations from the 'Sports Coordinators' and referees. As well as the chance to compete, there is also the opportunity to try a range of demonstration sports and have your face painted in your team colours.
Each year the Sports Development Team is involved in the recruitment and training of teams to represent Team St.Edmundsbury sponsored by Haverhill Town Council in the Suffolk Youth Games. In the lead up to the Games, the Team organise trials in each of the featured sports with help from the Bury St.Edmunds School Sport partnership and the South West Suffolk School Sport partnership.
Team St Edmundsbury sponsored by Haverhill Town Council finished 2nd place overall in the competition held on Sunday 12th July at Bury St Edmunds leisure Centre 4 points behind winners Waveney.
