Health Inclusion Plan
The new Suffolk Health Inclusion Programme aims to get more disabled people in West Suffolk into the gym to improve their fitness and overall health.
The Health Inclusion Programme (HIP) is being co-ordinated by Optua in partnership with the West Suffolk Local Strategic Partnership, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Forest Heath District Council and Babergh District Council. The project is aimed at providing disabled people with a personal tailored fitness programme in their local gym.
The HIP sessions take place weekly at our Bury St.Edmunds Leisure Centre
- Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre - Monday 2pm - 4pm and Friday 11am - 1pm.
Once the initial assessment has been completed and the programme has been tailored you attend each week for 24 weeks with a progress booklet to follow the programme at your own pace. Those taking part just pay £1 each time they attend through the scheme.
All the gyms taking part are accessible to wheelchair users and have easily adapted equipment to help disabled people exercise. The sessions are available to anyone with a disability over the age of 18 living in the West Suffolk Area.
