At the 2006 Redrow Homes Suffolk Youth Games held at Bury Leisure Centre on Sunday 16th July 'Team St. Edmundsbury' had the largest squad of competitiors since they first competed at the Millenium Youth Games. 124 young people enjoyed a glorious day competing against the other districts in Suffolk, making new friends and taking advantage of the entertainment and demonstration sports. For a lot of team members this was their first experience of competition.
'Team St. Edmundsbury' took the winners trophy in Squash and silver medals were won by the Swimming and Girls Basketball teams, with the boys in the Hockey team challenging in every match to take the bronze medal.
A new sport to be introduced to the competition this year was Badminton with the local St. Edmundsbury team taking the bronze medal.
Overall winners on the day were 'Team Waveney' who were awarded the Top Team Trophy, with 'Team St. Edmundsbury' achieving fourth place.
